Well here is the first update, and I guess, it's time to "name and shame" my own weight etc. No point doing if partially in the public domain, if you won't share the key numbers.

For those who know me, my weight has been a constant battle, particularly over the last 10 years or so, and it has steadily got out of control, despite various previous attempts to battle the demons, and get it back under control. At my absolute heaviest, it peaked the scales just under 18 stone, and although whilst I wasn't quite back up to that scary number this time, it wasn't too much better. As of 10 days ago, I weighed in at a frightening (there is no other word for it) 17st 7lbs, i.e. 245lbs, and my goodness, I felt every pound of it.

Puffing and wheezing your way through life day by day, clearly isn't the best options for a long and healthy life, so the decision if I'm honest, was made for me my nature itself.

I haven't yet registered for any of the 10K or Half Marathon events I'd like to do, but I am looking, and will select dates covering the next 12 months or so shortly. However, I have got back into my running, and thankfully, the pain so far, has been worth it. Fortunately I seem to have chosen the right time of year to get back into running, as it hasn't rained yet since I started, and today was super hot, much hotter than I realised when I set off.

But anyway, lets cut to the chase, have I actually lose anything in the last 10 days, well the simple answer is YES. I am pleased to announce that the weigh in today showed me at 16st 12lbs (236lbs) with a loss of 9lbs in 10 days. Clearly that kind of loss isn't sustainable long term, but it's a great start, and although still clearly way over weight, it's finally heading in the right direction.

For those who are interested, follow me on twitter at @flyerinhiding for more frequent, sometimes daily updates on the exercise regime.

Anyway, over and out for now. It's been a productive day in all aspects so far, and looking forward to spending a couple of hours later this evening in my "authors chair" and continue penning my first Kids novel, which if you are interested, is being published via Amazon & Kindle upon it's completion.

Exciting times ahead hopefully.

Until next time Bloggers, it's over and out

Why the diet has to start?

Monday 22nd April 2013

Finally, I have the motivation to get cracking with this diet, it's taken a while, but I'm good to go! It all started a few weeks back, when for the first time, I actually felt like I was overweight. I know I have been for a long time, but never really felt like it was a problem, and then came the moment when I pretty much physically exhausted simply lifting myself of the sofa.

In the past I have tried the Cambridge Diet, and Weightwatchers, but nothing has really ever proved to work, so I have decided I am going to go it alone.

Back to basics time, back to walking, running and cycling, and I will track the progress on this blog as I attempt to achieve the following goals in 2013.

Weight Loss Goal - 40lbs
2 x 10K runs
1 x Half Marathon

It won't be easy, particularly with maintaining motivation during some anticipated tough days ahead, and in the last few months it's really got to me to be honest, so this will most definitely not be easy.

I will keep a weekly update via this blog which I am hoping will maintain my enthusiasm to reach my target and goals, so watch this space.

Thanks for reading, and wish me luck :-)
